An Evening with To Write Love On Her Arms
To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) was founded by Jamie Tworkowski in 2006. A non-profit group dedicated to helping those who suffer from depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicidal tendencies find hope, support, and love, TWLOHA began as the simple attempt to tell the story of a friend in need, and quickly became an internet phenomenon and global movement, being named a "Must-Follow Non-Profit" by Mashable in 2010 and was awarded $1 million from the American Giving Awards in 2011.
The concept took off when Tworkowski posted a MySpace blog and began selling t-shirts. Supported by bands such as Switchfoot, Anberlin, and Paramore, TWLOHA spread in the music world, from venue to venue, and became known all over the world. Now, with the largest online audience of any non-profit on Facebook and MySpace, the organization has donated more than $1 million to help fund treatment, responded to 160,000 messages from over 100 countries, and has been featured on NBC Nightly News and in Rolling Stone. Renee, a film based on the life of Renee Yohe, the inspiration for TWLOHA, is set for release in 2012.
This event is free and open to the public!
