The original Big Event started at Texas A&M University in the 1980’s by their Student Government Association.  The purpose of the Big Event is to give students the opportunity to say ‘thank you’ to the community that supports them during the academic year. Last year’s event was a success, with over 50 Fort Hays State University students participating in community service activities. The projects last year ranged from yard clean-up for the elderly to interior painting.
